The treatment
About Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion resurfaces the skin mechanically. A handpiece passes over the face abrading the outermost layer of dead cells and drawing the debris away by suction as it goes.
Taking that layer off does two things. The skin underneath reflects light better, so tone and brightness improve immediately, and the removal prompts the skin to turn over new cells, which is where the improvement in texture over a course of treatments comes from.
There is no downtime. Skin can look slightly pink for a short while afterwards and then settles.
What happens at your appointment
- Your skin is cleansed and prepared.
- The handpiece is passed over the face in sections, working around the areas that need most attention.
- The debris is drawn off by suction as she works.
- The skin is soothed and finished with products suited to it.

Worth knowing
Hydro-dermabrasion at £40 does the same resurfacing but infuses hydration at the same time, which suits drier skin better.

Before your appointment
- Arrive with clean skin where possible.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before injectable treatments.
- Avoid taking aspirin or ibuprofen for 24–48 hours beforehand unless prescribed by your GP.
- Stay well hydrated.
- Let us know about any medical conditions, medications or recent procedures.
- Please arrive on time, as late arrivals may need to be rescheduled.

Who is not suitable for treatment
Some treatments may not be suitable if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Have an active skin infection, cold sore or open wound in the treatment area.
- Have certain medical conditions.
- Are taking medication that may affect healing or increase bleeding.
- Have recently had surgery in the treatment area.
- Have severe allergies to treatment ingredients.

Is microdermabrasion painful?
No. Most people find it comfortable and describe it as a scratchy or sandy sensation with a pulling feeling from the suction.

You will see brightness after one. Improvements in texture build over a course, and we rebook around every four weeks so the skin has time to turn over in between.
