About Japanese Head Spa
A Japanese head spa is a scalp treatment rather than a hair treatment, though your hair benefits from it. It combines a deep cleanse of the scalp, an extended massage, and conditioning work, carried out with you lying back over a basin with proper equipment rather than perched at a salon sink.
The scalp is skin, and it gets congested with product, oil and dead cells in exactly the way facial skin does. Clearing that is the practical half of the treatment. The other half is simply that a forty-five to ninety minute head and scalp massage is extraordinarily relaxing, which is why people book it as a treat rather than as maintenance.
Four packages are offered. The mini at twenty minutes is designed for children. The bronze, silver and gold run forty-five, sixty and ninety minutes, each adding more massage and more conditioning work.
What happens at your appointment
- You lie back over the basin and get comfortable. Nothing about this treatment is rushed.
- The scalp is cleansed thoroughly, clearing product build-up and congestion.
- An extended scalp, neck and shoulder massage follows. This is the longest part.
- Conditioning treatment is worked through the hair and scalp.
- Hair is rinsed and finished.

Cleanse, scalp massage and conditioning. Allow 45 min.
A full hour, with extended scalp massage and deep conditioning. Allow 60 min.
The full ninety minute journey for complete relaxation and scalp restoration. Allow 90 min.

Booking and deposits
- Deposit to book: £5 to £17
- We block out 50 minutes to 2 hours for your appointment
- Cancel with more than 48 hours notice and your deposit carries over to your next booking
- Cash and bank transfer accepted for the balance on the day
Worth knowing
Allow more time than the treatment length. The gold package is ninety minutes of treatment and we block out two hours, because nobody wants to be hurried out of this one with wet hair.

Before your appointment
- Arrive with clean skin where possible.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before injectable treatments.
- Avoid taking aspirin or ibuprofen for 24–48 hours beforehand unless prescribed by your GP.
- Stay well hydrated.
- Let us know about any medical conditions, medications or recent procedures.
- Please arrive on time, as late arrivals may need to be rescheduled.

Who is not suitable for treatment
Some treatments may not be suitable if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Have an active skin infection, cold sore or open wound in the treatment area.
- Have certain medical conditions.
- Are taking medication that may affect healing or increase bleeding.
- Have recently had surgery in the treatment area.
- Have severe allergies to treatment ingredients.
