The treatment
About Hayfever Injection
The hayfever injection is a steroid injection given to people whose seasonal allergy symptoms are severe enough that ordinary antihistamines and nasal sprays are not managing them. It is intended to cover the season rather than to be repeated through it.
Timing matters more than with most treatments. It is generally given before or at the start of the pollen season rather than in the middle of a bad week, so book early rather than waiting until you are suffering.
This is a prescription treatment and involves a consultation covering your medical history before anything is given.
What happens at your appointment
- A consultation covers your symptoms, what you have already tried, and your medical history.
- The injection site is cleaned.
- The injection is given into the muscle.
- Aftercare and what to expect are explained before you leave.
